PRAGUE, Czechia — Group A action continues at the 2024 IIHF Men’s World Championship, as Canada continues its trek to the knockout stage when they face Denmark.
Canada saw a strong start from one of the game’s rising superstars. Against Great Britain on Saturday, Connor Bedard made a spectacular debut with the senior national team scoring twice for the Canadians. What is a concern is that, despite outplaying the British, they were unable to pull away from their lesser opponent, only winning 4-2.
Denmark went up against a pesky Austrian team in their tournament opener on Saturday. While Austria kept the shots close in the first period, they found themselves trailing 2-1 after 20 minutes, as the Danes had goals from Markus Lauridsen and Frederik Storm. Denmark then pulled away later on with two goals in the third, winning 5-1. Joachim Blichfield scored two goals and an assist in the win.
