Canadian Woman Shares ‘Lies’ She Was Fed About Indian Men
A video of an Indian-Canadian couple discussing the misconceptions they had about each other’s cultures is gaining attention on social media. Known as Indian Canadian Couple on Instagram, they shared a clip where they opened up about the stereotypes they faced regarding their lifestyles, traditions, and countries. The post, captioned “Lies we were told before marriage. True love breaks stereotypes,” has already crossed 10.7 million views. In the video, Ekansh, the husband, recalls being warned before marriage that his wife, Danielle, would eventually divorce him. He also shared how people told him that “white people don’t treat their parents well.” Adding to the negativity, some even said Danielle would take his money and leave him with nothing.
The video opens with the woman Danielle saying, “Before marrying my Indian husband, people told me that Indians have two wives”. She reveals that people told her about the Indian people not using deodorant. She was also warned about getting raped in India.
Since being shared, the video has accumulated over 133,000 likes. Reacting to the clip, one user wrote, “I have never heard the stereotype of Indian having two wives.”
