Yahoo Sports fantasy analyst Matt Harmon explains why the Panthers wide receiver is worth a late grab for Week 5.
Yeah, you know, typically when we talk in these segments, it’s we gotta like present underlying data, stuff like that because, oh, this guy hasn’t quite popped off yet, but this might be the week, but this guy had a big week in the box score last week and Panthers rookie wide receiver Xavier Leggett scored a touchdown, had over 60 yards, caught a bunch of passes and he’s still only 31% roster despite having that big week last week.
And there’s actually a lot of underlying data that I think is really positive for Latte here.
Uh First of all, he saw a bunch of opportunity ran around on over 80% of the drop back, saw double digit targets second behind Deonte Johnson replacing Adam Thalen.
There is that number two wide receiver in Carolina and also from my own personal perspective, you know, watch a lot of these rookie wide receiver prospects, uh when they’re coming into the draft and, you know, sometimes like God, I really hope this guy gets used in this way and the coaching staff doesn’t quite see it that way.
So he can’t quite hit his potential.
I just thought Leggett was used in the exact type ways.
I’d love to see him use as an NFL player.
A lot of routes over the middle of the field.
He’s not just stuck there at X receiver running vertical routes because he’s a big guy with speed.
I think he is in the right role for his success in Carolina.
And obviously, Andy Dalton has emerged as a quarterback answer for them there.
So tougher matchup this week against the Bears, but if you do need Flex help, I do think Leggett’s a pretty decent option.
