Republic of Ireland boss Heimir Hallgrimsson has included uncapped Leicester City winger Kasey McAteer in his first squad for the upcoming Uefa Nations League matches against England and Greece.
England-born McAteer, 22, is named in the 23-man squad after receiving international clearance from Fifa.
McAteer has featured in both of Leicester’s Premier League games this season after scoring six goals last season to help the Foxes earn promotion from the Championship.
Hallgrimsson, a shock choice to succeed Stephen Kenny as boss, is also able to call upon fit-again captain Seamus Coleman and Brighton striker Evan Ferguson.
The former Iceland head coach also includes uncapped Bristol City goalkeeper Max O’Leary.
The Republic of Ireland host England at the Aviva Stadium on Saturday, 7 September before welcoming Greece to Dublin three days later.
