INDIANAPOLIS – The IU Indy Athletics Department has announced that Bradley Luetschwager has been promoted to Associate Head Men’s Tennis Coach, after having spent the past five seasons as assistant coach on Bren Vasalakis‘ staff. Luetschwager, a Stevens Point, Wisconsin native, joined the coaching staff in 2019 after playing four years with the Jaguars.
“I’m excited to continue to represent the men’s tennis team both on and off the court in this new role as Associate Head Coach,” said Luetschwager. “I appreciate Coach Vasalakis’ confidence with me coaching and developing this team alongside him. I cannot wait to start the 2024-2025 season with new dedication to work towards a conference championship.”
During Luetschwager’s time as an assistant coach, the Jags have made two Horizon League Tournament appearances with one semi final appearance in 2022. The team totals nine Horizon League victories despite the 2020 league schedule being cancelled. The Jags have also seen several Horizon League Singles Players of the Week and Doubles Team of the Week during Luetschwager’s time as assistant coach.
Before Luetschwager took over as assistant coach, he was a four-year letterwinner for IUPUI from 2015-19 and became one of the top players in IUPUI history. Luetschwager is tied for second in school history in singles wins with 45 and his .479 winning percentage in singles matches is 10th all time for the Jags.
“Brad has been a crucial part of our program for the past 10 years and his promotion to Associate Head Coach is well deserved,” said head coach Vasalakis. “His commitment to recruiting and developing our team has been instrumental in our success.”
Luetschwager will immediately take on increased responsibility within the Jaguars’ programs leading into the upcoming Fall 2024 campaign.
