MANILA, Philippines — President Ferdinand Marcos Jr. said his administration is looking to generate 3 million jobs for Filipinos by the end of his term.
Marcos told officials and stakeholders from the labor sector about “a 10-year roadmap that will serve as a guide towards greater employment generation and recovery” as the government hosted the 2024 National Employment Summit in Manila on Thursday to kick off the creation of the “Trabaho Para sa Bayan” (TPB) Plan.

“The TBP Plan will be one of the driving forces to help create at least 3 million new jobs by the year 2028. Beyond generating employment though, what we want to achieve is creating quality jobs, with special emphasis on ensuring workers’ welfare,” he said.
According to the President, the TPB Plan will ensure interagency cooperation and a multi-faceted approach to achieving the country’s labor goals.

“With our unity and cooperation, I’m certain we will not only survive but thrive in the evolving job market, ensuring no Filipino is left behind as we move forward,” he said.
In 2023, Marcos signed the Trabaho Para sa Bayan Act, which calls for the drafting of a master plan to address unemployment, underemployment, and youth unemployment nationwide.
