KANSAS CITY, Mo. – North Florida men’s basketball was honored by the National Association of Basketball Coaches (NABC) with NABC Team Academic Excellence honors for a fifth straight season, as announced by the national organization on Monday afternoon.
In addition to the team award, Chaz Lanier (sport management), Dorian James (master’s of health administration), Nate Lliteras (master’s of health administration), Oscar Berry (marketing) and Trent Coleman (business management) were all tabbed as Osprey representatives to the NABC Honors Court.
North Florida men’s basketball achieved a 3.42 team GPA for the spring semester, with eight student-athletes earning a 3.5 GPA or higher.
“After losing so much talent on the basketball court the year before, people weren’t sure what to expect and we really came together during our conference play competing for an ASUN Championship,” said head coach Matthew Driscoll. “From an academic prospective, you will never have to worry or ask how we will be knowing that our guys love to learn, strive on competition and always embrace the challenges of being a student-athlete head on. These young men continue to persevere and conquer once again, obtaining our 14th straight semester with a 3.15 GPA or higher.”
