Paris Saint-Germain midfielder Fabián Ruiz is shining brightly for the Spanish national team after a strong showing at UEFA Euro 2024. However, his performances with La Roja haven’t translated over to the club level.
During the last FIFA international window, Ruiz stole the show in Spain’s match against Switzerland at Stade de Genève. The 28-year-old scored twice, with goals in the 13th and 77th minutes, helping Spain secure another win.
Moreover, his performances have led to rumors that FC Barcelona and Real Madrid could be looking to lure Ruiz back to Spain to see if he can replicate that success in their squad.
With rumors of suitors and Ruiz’s failure to find success, RMC Sport pundit Daniel Riolo hints that the Ligue 1 side should cut their losses and sell while the player’s stock is high.
“It’s fair to criticize players who aren’t performing, like Ruiz,” Riolo said (h/t Le10Sport). “He had a great Euro, but we’ve been waiting for three years now. If PSG wants to compete with Europe’s top teams, their midfield needs to be much stronger than what we’ve seen so far.
“I have serious doubts about Ruiz. After three years, it’s fair to say they got it wrong or that he’s just not the right fit for Paris Saint-Germain.”
Ruiz will again play for Spain this international window, and if he performs well, these questions will again be asked.
