Colorado high school boys golf state championships tee off Monday and run through Tuesday across the state.
For the first time, there are four classifications, though no Fort Collins-area players or teams qualified in the new Class 2A.
However, 14 local golfers and three full teams will compete for a state championship over the next two days after qualifying through regional play last week.
Here’s a look at those golfers, plus their first-round tee times. We’ll update this story with scores and other updates from the championships.
The SaberCats won a regional title and will be among the favorites in the 5A state tournament at CommonGround Golf Course in Aurora.
Here are the tee times for Fossil Ridge golfers in Monday’s opening round:
Two other city golfers qualified for state as individuals:
The Wizards finished runner-up in their home regional to qualify all four golfers as a team, while Kellen Ball won the individual title.
Ball and Windsor could certainly be in the mix for the 4A crown out in Grand Junction at Tiara Rado Golf Course.
Here are the Wizards’ first-round start times:
Kellen Ball: 9:30 a.m. (10th hole)
Tadese Keyworth: 9:40 a.m. (10th)
Dillon Calkins: 9:50 a.m. (10th)
Austyn Bell: 10 a.m. (10th)
The Cubs qualified all four golfers individually and as a team from 3A regional action.
Here’s how Timnath’s opening-round tee times look at Walking Stick Golf Course in Pueblo.
Ethan Eisenmenger: 8:40 a.m. (10th hole)
Jackson Summers: 8:50 a.m. (10th)
Greyson Kilburn: 9 a.m. (10th)
Brodey Weappa: 9:10 a.m. (10th)
The format will be two stroke play rounds, with the lowest two-day score winning the individual title. The top three scores each day count toward team totals, and the lowest two-day combined score takes the team crown.
