(Reuters) – Serbia have been hit with partial stadium closures for two home matches and banned from selling tickets to their fans in two away ties over supporter behaviour in last month’s Nations League games against Switzerland and Denmark, UEFA said.
Serbian fans displayed “racist and discriminatory” behaviour, caused damage to the stadium, threw objects and lit fireworks during a 1-1 draw with Switzerland in Zurich on Nov. 15, UEFA’s disciplinary body said in a statement on Wednesday.
Similar offences three days later in a goalless home draw with Denmark led to a one-match partial stadium closure and the activation of a suspended one-match partial closure sentence from October, the statement added.
Serbia, who play Austria home and away in the relegation playoffs in March after finishing third in their group, were also fined over their fans’ conduct, which included a pitch invasion during the Denmark game.
