Songwriter Lin-Manuel Miranda spoke to Yahoo Entertainment’s Taryn Ryder about his songs in the new Disney animated movie “Mufasa: The Lion King.” Miranda told Ryder that he wasn’t able to predict fan favorite songs from his previous movies and said he “can’t predict” which song will be a hit with audiences in “Mufasa.”
I know it’s like when you somebody asks you picking a child, but can you pick a favorite song from Mufasa?
Oh, I have a favorite child, and I also have a favorite song.
Um, I think that, um, um, it changes for me, you know, I, for me the fun on this one were the things I, I hadn’t had a chance to do on another movies, so to get to write a romantic ballad for Disney.
To get to write an old school big bad villain song from Mads Mickelson, I’d be audacious to even put that on a bucket list.
There will be one Lion King.
What do you think is going to be like the audience hit, the big surprise?
That I know I can’t predict, because I thought everyone was gonna leave singing surface Press or uh Colombia Mencanto, and then we don’t talk about Bruno took the world by storm.
I’m still surprised by it.
So all I know is I know nothing.
