Ange Postecoglou and Tottenham sporting director Johan Lange have been handed a major transfer update, with the club’s second summer signing expected to be confirmed soon. The Lilywhites have already announced the return of Timo Werner on another loan spell, but now they look set to unveil their first permanent addition, Archie Gray.
The Leeds United star looked to be on his way to Brentford, only for the structure of their offer to be rejected, with Spurs swooping in. football.london understands that Gray to Tottenham is getting closer with Joe Rodon heading to Elland Road after a successful loan spell last season in a separate deal.
With some cover at full-back and in midfield close to being added, Spurs may likely turn their attention elsewhere, which could see more senior stars move on. Eric Dier, Japhet Tanganga, Ryan Sessegnon and Tanguy Ndombele have all departed, with more likely to follow.
Interest from overseas in a number of players, such as Pierre-Emile Hojbjerg and Emerson Royal, already exists, and now it seems Tottenham can finally work towards raising funds through those deals. While the summer transfer window opened in England on June 14, the trading periods in Italy, Germany, Spain and France all remained shut until July 1.
With that date now upon us, exits can start to be sanctioned, with Emerson AC Milan heavily linked to Emerson in a €20million (£17m) move. Hojbjerg, meanwhile, who Spurs value at £25million, still has interest from Atletico Madrid with Napoli, under former manager Antonio Conte, another potential destination.
Giovani Lo Celso and Djed Spence are also expected to be sold this summer, with Genoa keen on bringing the latter back to Italy, though the £8.4million asking price is proving to be a stumbling block. Though Tottenham look set to welcome their second addition of the summer, it is highly unlikely Postecoglou and Lange are done there.

Stade Rennais midfielder Desire Doue has been linked to a Premier League move with Tottenham and Arsenal, the two teams mentioned. Following an excellent breakout season in France, the 19-year-old has seen a €40million (£33.9m) price tag placed on his shoulders.
With Postecoglou aiming to build a young and exciting team, signing the 19-year-old would be a sensational coup. Though the Spurs boss seems to favour signing talent for the future, he is clearly not against bringing in more experienced players if they fit his ethos, with Lille’s Jonathan David emerging as a target.
The 24-year-old has been contacted by Chelsea, along with interest from Spurs, and it is likely he will leave France this summer. As his contract expires next summer, a bargain deal could be struck with £20million, potentially as the minimum fee that could be paid.
