Environment Canada has issued a winter weather travel advisory for Toronto and some surrounding communities due to heavy snowfall in the forecast.
Five to 10 centimetres of snow is expected overnight and Friday morning, which will lead to hazardous driving conditions, the federal weather agency says.
The snow will taper off late Friday morning or early Friday afternoon, it says.
The weather advisory was issued just before 3:30 p.m. Thursday and also applies to Mississauga, Brampton and other communities in the Peel region.
The temperature in Toronto Thursday evening was forecast to be -2 C Thursday night, with the wind chill making it feel like -8 C.
Friday is expected to be -2 C with a chance of flurries at times, changing to heavy snow.
