A WALMART fan is furious after a negative shopping experience this month.
They blasted the retail giant for its processes, including updates to self-checkout areas.
Walmart followed similar decisions by competitors like Target this summer and implemented a grocery item limit for kiosks.
Shoppers at certain stores can now only checkout in the self-service area with 15 items or less when there was previously no limit at all.
The policy change caused serious backlash from customers, with some dubbing the limit “ridiculous” and calling for more cashiered lanes to compensate for the customers who would no longer be allowed to use the self-checkout area.
“Here’s a suggestion. If you’re going to make it so people with more than 15 items can’t use self-checkout, then you need to have more than 3 registers open,” a shopper wrote in a post to X, formerly Twitter earlier in July.
Instead of having a limit, they demanded that Walmart trust its customers more to correctly scan their merchandise at the kiosks, no matter the amount.
They claimed not giving customers the freedom to scan their own items could put them at greater risk of being “overcharged.”
“The majority of your customers aren’t thieves,” the shopper remarked.
“Yet that’s how you’re treating them when you decide customers can’t be trusted to ring themselves up.”
“If anything, you should be looking at some of your employees when it comes to theft,” the fan continued.
“Why should people keep shopping at Walmart?”
The shopper continued to critique other aspects of Walmart stores, including locations that allegedly had ceiling leaks and other structural issues.
“DO BETTER,” they said.
It certainly isn’t the first time in recent months that a Walmart customer has demanded more from the chain due to its policies.
The 15-item limit is also the second self-checkout policy this year that caused a backlash.

In March, select Walmart stores started blocking off certain self-checkout kiosks for Walmart+ members and Spark Drivers.
Walmart+ members pay a $98 annual fee for added perks and benefits like free shipping and delivery on orders, various deals and discount opportunities, and even a free Paramount+ membership.
Some shoppers without the membership have claimed at least 60% of the self-checkout kiosks at their store are now reserved for those with Walmart+.
Long lines and wait times have seemingly come with regular shoppers having fewer lanes open and the 15-item limit on top of that.
A fan was so upset by the changes recently that they abandoned their cart full of groceries and fled their local store, begging Walmart to “hire some more employees.”
Others went to competitors like Target, saying the chain can “get their money” instead.
Fears of overcharging are also high for some.
A customer recently claimed they were overcharged for an item they didn’t buy and employees refused to refund them without a receipt.
Another claimed Walmart overcharged them more than twice due to a weighting issue.
