On the latest episode of BBC Radio Manchester’s The Devils’ Advocate podcast, Gaz Drinkwater was asked if there are any players in the current Manchester United squad who will go down as club legends.

Gaz said: “There’s only one name in the squad who is a maybe, and that is Bruno [Fernandes]. But I don’t think you can be a Man Utd legend if you don’t win the league or the Champions League.

“If Fernandes stays at United until he’s 35, and we win the Champions League when he’s barely playing, he is a legend because of what he did in his career to keep us in somewhat touching distance.

On whether Marcus Rashford could be classed as a legend: “Of course not. Not only have we not won the league or Champions League with Rashford, he hasn’t been integral in these last years. He’s been up and down.

“If I was going to put money on one player [to become a legend] it would be Kobbie Mainoo.”
