LaLiga have confirmed that Barcelona teenager Lamine Yamal has scooped the Player of the Month award for September after a fantastic month for Hansi Flick’s side.
The Spanish winger grabbed three goals and an assist for the Blaugrana as they took nine points from a possible 12 in the Spanish top flight to open up a three point gap over rivals Real Madrid at the summit of Spanish football.
The 17-year-old beat Kylian Mbappé (Real Madrid), Iñaki Williams (Athletic Club), Giovani Lo Celso (Real Betis) and Carlos Vicente (Deportivo Alavés) in the voting.
It is the first time that he has received the award, having previously won the U23 Player of the Month on two occasions.
It is certain not to be the last.
